School and the Homeless

With the rising problem of American's becoming homeless it is effecting more than our economy. As future educators we have to realize the different problems our students are facing outside of the classroom. Instead of yelling at them for falling asleep in class, not having homework done, or acting out with classmates we need to find out what might be causing this behavior. What you can learn about a student may surprise you.

  1. I think this video is highly inspirational for people to make a difference. It was so sad and depressing because of the unfortunate truth behind each and every fact. The facts are things that I can see in my life at home, which also makes the video able to be related to for many individuals. Highly powerful and yet there is not much that we can do for families in poverty.

  2. Well for one thing the money that's going into the military, stop it. I'm tired of hearing that we need to restructure other countries just to defend ourselves... Isn't that what the airport security (annoying as it is), the national guard, and the navy is for on our own borders?

I'm all for helping the poverty stricken and the homeless, but not if they don't try to honestly make a living. I'm not going to condone leeching in any fashion or form. If they're injured, I'll let them recover and then they can go to work.

Doesn't help that the Upper class is hoarding all of the money. Rich get richer and the poor get poorer.

  3. Kayla,
It does make me sad as well when you think of how many people are going through that situation and how uninformed we are about it.
